Parker has patented a lot of inventions. The jumbo refill is one of them too - a Parker patent originally registered as Quink. It was launched in 1954, and the first pen to use it was the Jotter series. Why jumbo? Because Parker wanted to give users a pen that writes five times longer than an ordinary one. The result is the Parker jumbo refill, which lets you write 5,000 metres without a break. It was a huge success from launch, and most manufacturers bought the patent from Parker and started making this refill as the "Parker-style" refill. It is extremely popular all over the world. Over time the ink formula has been continually improved, and today it is an exceptional, reliable, top-quality product with distinctive writing characteristics. The latest generation of the refill is called Quink Flow, with an innovative formula of fluid ink that dries extremely quickly. Today the jumbo refill comes in two ink variants: standard and gel. You can also choose between a fine and a medium line width. Ink colours are blue, black and red. Parker guarantees an ink fill level of over 90%. Watch out for cheap Parker-type copies on the market, which are often filled to only 20% with ink of questionable quality. All Parker jumbo refills have a tungsten carbide ball at the tip. Finally, for peace of mind, Parker refills are compatible with all Parker ballpoint pens.
