Description

The ink cartridge was invented and patented by Parker. It first appeared on the market in 1960 with the pens of the Parker 45 series. They were launched as a new concept: the disposable cartridge. The idea quickly caught on because it made refilling a pen with ink quick and practical. Another unique feature of Parker cartridges is that the standard version is the only one on the market with two compartments. One regular and one reserve, like a spare fuel tank. The two compartments are separated by a thin membrane; a firm tap on the cartridge breaks it and gives you enough ink for about two more pages. Parker fountain pens work only with Parker cartridges.

They do not fit pens of other brands. Parker uses this standard to make sure you use quality ink that won't clog the pen's feed. As with Parker Quink bottled ink, there are two kinds of quick-drying ink. Washable and permanent. Standard cartridges come in packs of five (the price shown is for a pack of five). Mini cartridges come in cardboard packs of six (the price shown is for a pack of six). When using cartridges, it is recommended every two or three cartridge changes

to rinse the pen under cold water (never hot).

The feed can also be soaked for 15 minutes in an ink-cleaning solution. We recommend Rotring cleaning solution, after which the pen is rinsed under cold running water. Made in France.
